Housing
Much hope is vested in the newly- formed Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), which has £4 billion of its £17 billion budget to spend in the capital.

The HCA is using its money to kick start stalled schemes across London including the Aylesbury Estate in Southwark, Heart of East Greenwich and Woodberry Down in Hackney. Between them the schemes will create 1,500 homes with a long-term potential to provide a further 6,000. Over half the properties will be affordable. The long-running 4000-home Barking Riverside scheme was submitted for planning at the end of January.
